“The Pack” is landing

During the recording process for the album, “FREE THROWS”, I recorded a slew of songs that lead me to the final tracklist. These are songs that encapsulate my passion for what it is that I do in a daily basis. I’ve decided to share this music in an installment series that I’m calling “THE PACK”. Every Friday, I’ll release one song from this batch to DSP’s. The last song will be the album’s intro. The songs from “THE PACK” will live on the streaming platforms, but my album will only be available for purchase on my website.

The fourth installment is a song called ‘Departure (LAX)’. A ambient interlude that captures the quiet turbulence of leaving behind familiar praise for the uncertainty of a bigger stage. It reflects the tension of trading the comfort of being a hometown hero for the anonymity of becoming a small fish in a vast pond. Like boarding a late-night flight, it’s both departure and arrival—an intimate pause before the next chapter unfolds.

MEET the

Musician

Bryan Patterson Jr. is a Charlotte-based saxophonist whose warm, soulful sound bridges jazz, R&B, and community storytelling. Known for creating music that brings comfort and connection in chaotic times, Bryan’s artistry has earned recognition beyond the stage.

His portrait is currently on display at the Mint Museum Uptown, celebrating his cultural impact in Charlotte’s creative scene. In addition, he was invited to speak on a panel for Charlotte’s Film Festival screening of the award-winning documentary Luther Vandross: Never Too Much, honoring his deep musical insight and ability to translate the language of legends for a new generation. Through every note, Bryan continues to craft moments that resonate far beyond the music itself.
